Hi Chris. Your forward plan looked realistic to me, mainly for two
reasons: you did not try to include:

 1. taxes
 2. payroll.

I think the plan is to have other people maintain specialized modules
for things like this.

I have also contacted the developer of TaxGeek with the idea of maybe
being able to support integration with that product in the next tax
season (2008).

Other areas where there might be room for add-on projects might be:
1) MRP
2) CRM
3) POS (current POS program will be officially an add-on after 1.4)
4) Many more we probably haven't thought of yet.

The idea is that we don't want to be "all things to all people" but
rather a great platform for running *your* business :-) You being the
business owner.

Best Wishes,
Chris Travers

Both these are an enormous can of worms, essentially for the same
reason: different places have hugely different types of rules. In some
places its relatively simple, in others its a nightmare. Both need to be
handled by fairly separate specialist applications/modules. I think this
project has plenty on its plate as it is without doing too much in
either area. Better to keep the core simple/generic and try to design in
interfaces for the operational side of taxes and payroll to be written
as separate subprojects.

My 2c worth.
