Well, I am sure that if we ask enough people, we will get offers to
contribute in any language from LISP to Ruby.
Rewriting in a new language is a serious undertaking and not something
which we can even hope to address at the moment. However, I would
hope that by 2.0, it may be possible for different implementations to
exist in other languages as well since a large part of the logic will
be in the db.

I vote for rewriting the whole package in Ruby . . if that were an
option I might even help code!
