Best way to check for transactions associated with a specific customer ID or part number

We're having some trouble deleting some bogus customers and parts that were 
entered in the system erroniously.  They should not have been used in any 
transactions, but when the part is selected, there is no option to delete 
them.  So my question is, what is the best way to verify / check if there are 
any transactions associated with a given customer, or part?

I did try using the History module for the customer, but it shows no activity 
for the problematic Customer ID.
