I've been working on addressing the same kind of issues for the
Debian/Ubuntu packaging... I've made progress on it but will still
need to try installation and upgrade tests...

IIRC, that's the /etc/apache2/conf-available/ directory now...

I had created a version of that from 1.4 for the packaging I'm
doing; I'll change to using the v2.4 template file instead when it
becomes available with a LSMB v1.3 version.
