If it's up to me, then yes, absolutely! However, we need someone to
step up to do the legwork: I'm finding that my time is best spent on
the software itself, not on the packaging, which is a complex topic of
its own, especially Debian packaging, which comes with truckloads of
policy.

Well, I was able to update the LedgerSMB package in Debian to 1.6.33,
after it was removed because of broken dependencies, last year. But
this year, the same dependency is broken again and I have no way of
fixing it. Likely, LedgerSMB will be removed from  the Debian archive.
Also, when looking at PopCon, you'll see that the number of installs
has deteriorated... I don't know how to upgrade the package in Debian
to e.g. 1.9 or 1.10 without the broken dependency and within the
bounds of the debian policy. We need help!
