This was the first time I decided to do these kind of changes and have
not experienced such problems before. I respond to Erik only to clarify
that the Save button was there all the time, but before I updated my
users permissions, I got an error message (which I did not investigate
any further). After permissions update the Save button worked and both
issues is fixed as described.
It seems like I have the Apache error log from 2 days ago, I think these
lines is related to the error messages (I seem to remember some of this
from the error message in the browser - see line marked with '****').
I that helps...?
