I have never seen this error message before.  Doing some digging it looks like Math::BigFloat is now part of Perl core (which it wasn't when we started).  I am wondering if something changed in the way it handles requested calculation modules (these were not required before, wondering if they are now).

If so, the correct module to install would be Math::BigInt::GMP.

This is in debian as libmath-bigint-gmp-perl

cpanplus  gives this error when I try installing Math::BigFloat

[ERROR] [Thu Jan 23 14:33:13 2014] The core Perl 5.018002 module 'Math::BigFloat' (1.998) is more recent than the latest release
on CPAN (1.997). Aborting install.

debian says: perl-modules/filelist   /usr/share/perl/5.18.2/Math/BigFloat.pm
and I have it:
ll /usr/share/perl/5.18.2/Math/BigFloat.pm
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 133776 Jan 14 14:56 /usr/share/perl/5.18.2/Math/BigFloat.pm

So, I will try uninstalling another package that supplies a version of it...
Removing libmath-mpfr-perl (3.21-1) ...  no dependency problems there...

Result is same 500 error,    /var/log/apache2/error.log ==>
