I don't think so. Here's whats going on and if you fixed the issue by giving special rights to Apache as a user in PostgreSQL that may pose other issues.
LedgerSMB's authentication works as follows:
1) Web browser sends HTTP auth headers to Apache
2) Apache passes these through to the CGI script using mod_rewrite
3) The script uses these values to log into PostgreSQL
If no username is provided (as the log shows) it tries log into PostgreSQL with the user name of the owner of the process, which is what is happening.

I wiped out my databases so I'm not sure, and I need to find
out if ledgersmb can import bank transactions via CSV before I tackle
this again. I get the impression that this functionality is not quite
complete? Do folks using ledgersmb really enter each bank transaction
into the ledger one-by-one?
