Sure. You can do two things:
1) AR/AP/GL transactions against projects
2) Labor/overhead classes, services, parts, and materials against
projects (i.e. time/material cards)
That should cover just about everything.

1) Hook to external DMS, or
2) provide simple file attachments (using method being developed for 1.3).
The key thing about collaboration here was to allow anyone to enter a
time/labor card or comment against a task (i.e. project
File attachments were part of the project at that point too (attached
to appointments, contacts, or tasks).
The key element of collaborative project tracking was in allowing a
specific item to have an owner (who is responsible) but multiple users
could subscribe so they could follow it. The idea is to provide for
managerial tracking as well as collaboration.
