Thanks for taking this on! A turnkey VM is something LedgerSMB
should consider distributing for evaluation by new users. 

I suggest that the upcoming Ubuntu 8.10 server with the JeOS (mimal)
profile might be a good target, and the corresponding HowTo would be
reusable for custom deployments.
