Re: Question re ledgerSMB

Hmmm.... Since currently, we are planning on ceasing development on
1.2 when 1.3 comes out, we would certainly need to provide an upgrade
path for 1.2 users. We are not going to abandon our current users.

Since you can upgrade from 1.2, and since we will need to have that
upgrade ability to 1.3 before it is released, it will not be a problem
to upgrade from 1.1 to 1.3 by running some .sql files.

Hmmm probably not.

Perfectly understood. 1.1 and 1.2 both are difficult releases. Mainly
because we could only fix them so much as they are based on what is
fundamentally broken and insecure code (SQL Ledger).

1.3 is the first major step toward breaking away from that code base
with already a ton of work being done on it.

Here is what I can say:

You like will *not* be able to upgrade from 1.1 to 1.3.
You can upgrade from 1.1 to 1.2
You "might" be able to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.3
You "will" be able to upgrade from 1.3 to 1.4
You "will" be able to upgrade from 1.4 to 1.5 (likely 2.0)

I know this is frustrating in the younger versions, but we didn't really
have much of a choice but to break compatibility if we wanted to
actually build sane software.
