Is this something different with 1.5?

I have two 1.4.26 installations using apache. One running as old-school
cgi, the other using apache as a proxy in front of Starman, using a very
similar configuration to that being proposed. I am using Print to
PDF/Screen for invoicing under both configurations.

This actually depends on the version of LaTeX::Driver you're using and has nothing to do with the version of LedgerSMB you're running. However, it does have to do with how you're running LedgerSMB, because under Starman, the bug in LaTeX::Driver doesn't interfere with correct operation of LedgerSMB while running as CGI scripts it does. (Long story, this is the summary.)
