Re: Propose requiring Perl 5.10 for LedgerSMB 1.4

A lot of servers out in the wild are still on flavours of RHEL5, such as CentOS. They are all stuck on perl5.8, so such a requirement may be far reaching. This was recently discussed on the DBI mailing list.

Hi all;

I am moving my primary development box to Perl 5.12 since that seems
to be where most of our version-specific bugs are.

What do people think of dropping Perl 5.8 support? If we require
5.10, we can use switch statements instead of long elsifs, and Moose
support is better guaranteed.
