Database Changes for Integrators (1.3 to 1.4)

This document is to set about general notes for system integrators, how our
upgrade processes work, and the major changes in the current branch.

UPGRADE SYSTEM BASICS
=====================

We have a non-destructive upgrade system, which moves old data out of the way
and then imports it to the current system. There is currently no provision to
run custom after-upgrade import scripts though if this is a need support could
be added. Specific requirements would need to be worked out though.

Old data remains in database schemas descriptively named. For LedgerSMB, the name is lsmb[major][branch]. For SQL-Ledger it is the same but with sl instead of
lsmb.  SQL-Ledger 2.8 becomes sl28, while LedgerSMB 1.3 becomes lsmb13.  This
can be used to roll back upgrades, but any changes made during the
pre-upgrade-text phase will remain in effect.

After an upgrade, you can run whatever scripts you need to in order to move data
from the old version to the new version. Just because data is not imported
doesn't mean it is lost. You can always import it yourself. In general
anything outside the functionality of previous LedgerSMB pervsions will not be
imported. This is a good reason for implementors to coordinate with us on the
development lists to ensure that common pieces of functionality are merged into
the core software.

MAJOR DB CHANGES IN 1.4
========================
* customertax and vendortax merged to eca_tax
* department and project merged into business_unit and business_unit_class
* mappings to business units are in bu_ tables.

Because projects and departments share id-space, we currently add 1000 to the id
of projects during import on the assumption that we don't have any users with
more than 1000 departments. If this is a wrong assumption the upgrade scripts
may require adjustment.
