Re: Firefox or Apache isn't running login.pl?

Hi Tim,

Looking at your screenshot there, I'd say that you might be missing (either really missing or just not enabled) Apache's CGI or CGID modules. On Debian/Ubuntu, you can enable it by running (as root)

 $ a2enmod cgi

and then restarting Apache by running

 $ service apache restart

But to be honest, there are other possible causes as well. It's hard to determine this isn't one of those other causes without the relevant Apache configuration available, but it does seem like the most likely cause from the information you provided so far.

Regards,

Erik.

Hi:

I'm a brand new user (or perhaps "user-wannabe", since it isn't working
yet).  I just installed LedgerSMB on this machine, got Apache to see it,
and tried poking the "login.pl" button.

What I got was the following message from Firefox:

"You have chosen to open
login.pl
which is: PL file (119 bytes)
from: http://localhost

What should Firefox do with this file?

(etc., etc.)"

So -- what gives?  Should the perl file be executing on the local
machine through Firefox (seems odd, or just plain wrong), and I'm not
setting up my browser right, or should the perl file be executing on
Apache (seems sensible) and I need to do something to Apache?

I'm running Lubuntu 14.04, and I'm running the LedgerSMB from the
Lubuntu archives, which reports itself as version 1.3.25.  Apache says
"Apache/2.4.7 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80".

Your wisdom appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
