Hi Benedict,
when you say "installing LedgerSMB (to get all dependencies)" do you
mean the debian package from the apt repositories, the debian package
from ledgersmb.org, or another method?
I assume you are thinking 1.3.
Assuming it is the official (latest) deb from ledgersmb.org That would
get you all of the dependencies for 1.3
I believe 1.4 has dropped a couple of dependencies vs 1.3, and added one
or two others.
The other issue is if you simply overwrite the files, and an updated 1.3
package is released, your install will get tromped on.
This needless to say would be a BAD THING!
The 1.4 install script should check for missing dependencies and tell
you what you need to install.
Personally I am about to build a new debian VM and install 1.4 and will
be doing it direct from the last tarball that Chris announced.
It can be found here....
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ledger-smb/files/Beta%20Releases/1.4.0-b5/
SUMMARY:
Install 1.4 direct from tarball. It should be both the safest, and
easiest method.

David Godfrey

Subversion Kills Productivity. Get off Subversion & Make the Move to Perforce.
With Perforce, you get hassle-free workflows. Merge that actually works.
Faster operations. Version large binaries. Built-in WAN optimization and the
freedom to use Git, Perforce or both. Make the move to Perforce.
