Thank you for your reply. SIC itself is clear, we also use the scheme here (Hungary).
The only issue I found, when I create a new company (vendor, customer), I can see only one entry field for this, no dropdown list from previously entered SIC codes.
Anyway, in Hungary (and I assume in other countries, too) it is possible to use ona main SIC and several secondary SIC codes.
Back to the original question, do you have a selection list on the form when you create a new customer?
I use 1.3.35.

When creating a company, you can select from the SIC codes. I'm not aware it's used anywhere within the application, but I've worked for companies which had do reporting based on industry. SIC stands for Standardised Industry Code. I know of standardized schemes by the US (SIC and NAICS), EU (NACE) and Australia-and-New-Zealand (ANZSIC) numbering systems.
