Re: Newbie needs Help installing on Windows

Hi Paul;

I know a lot of people have had trouble with ActivePerl and LedgerSMB.

The preferred method is to uninstall ActivePerl, install Vanilla Perl and then do as follows:
1)  Make sure the PostgreSQL header and development tools are installed (these are managed through the PostgreSQL installer package)
2)  Make sure the system envrironment variable PATH includes: ';c:\Program Files\postgresql\8.2\bin'
3)  From a dos prompt: cpan Module::Install
4)  from a dos prompt in the LedgerSMB directory:  perl Makefile.PL
5) continuing:  dmake

I may think about creating a zip file of my Vanilla Perl directory.  Note that this will probably be necessary if you are running Vista.

Best Wishes,
Chris Travers
