Hidden directories and files

Hi

Trying to install 1.5.6, I notice that there are hidden files and 
directories in the tarball. Should they be there? Can I remove them?

The two files have names (.proverc and .travis.yml) that implies they 
don't belong here. But what about .tx? The config file there points to a 
translation service. What is the purpose?
