Right - if you plan to call install-mycompany.sh from some other
installation script (e.g. rpm postinstall). If not, what's the point?
I agree that using envvars and only prompting as a last resort is good
practice; if you can tell me where the script might be called from, I'll
fix it and submit a new diff.
I was looking at install.sh, but I don't think it's realistic to create
a distribution-independent version of that. Probably better to handle
those few tasks in dists/*.
Er, are any of the distro packaging scripts actively maintained?
