Re: Putting items "on sale"

Can someone explain the following terms?
Where would you use each and how they affect each other?

  Group (Parts Group)
  Price Group
Break (on the Edit Part screen at the bottom; is this a percentage?)
Discount (dropdown list on Customer screen)
Discount (two text fields on the Customer screen)

Thanks.
Brian

A local company has expressed lots of interest in LedgerSMB to run their office supply store.  One requirement is to be able to put all items from a particular manufacturer "on sale" (i.e., discounted price) during a specific period.  For example, discount all Pilot products (pens, markers and the like) by 15% during Aug 15 - Sept 15.

Yes, you can have the products assigned to a partsgroup and then go through (manually or in the db) and assign them a lower price for a specific period of time.

To do this, simply fill out the start and end dates of the price in the customer field and don't attach it to any customer or pricegroup.

What's the best way to do that?

Thanks.
