Re: Getting rid of frames in 1.5?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering how much effort it might be worth putting into to remove frames in 1.5.  There might be a lot of HTML cleanup necessary in old code areas (which woud be limited, I think to stuff relating to orders, shipping, and some other areas), but....

What I am wondering is if it might make some sense to try to use Dojo to wrap the forms, send the submission, and then capture the response through whatever method, redrawing the div with the response information.

It may or may not be feasible, but wondering how much interest there is and what priority those on this list assign this work.

You have my interest! In the past, I've tried to record Selenium scripts for the purpose of (partially automated) UI testing. However, Selenium doesn't seem to be able to record inside framesets. So, if you ask me, this would be a great step forward. Whether we can actually start using Selenium or that we need to select another framework is a different matter entirely, because Selenium also had problems with Dojo's SELECT-replacing widget.

In short: a very good first step toward automated UI testing.

Apart from the previous point: it may be a very good first step at getting our UI into the 2010s  :-)
