Install question

Greetings

This is where all the experts hang out so I thought I would ask my question here rather than on the users board.

I have been working through an install on Debian 7.6 (running on a virtual machine.) (Postgres 9.1, Apache 2.2 and perl 5.14 if its useful.)
Have been using the instructions:

Ubuntu Installation Tutorial: LedgerSMB-1.3-SERIES

Have been making notes as to what's different loading LedgerSMB1.4-rc1.

Have reached the area:

Validating the Installation

cpan Template::Latex

where I got this:

All tests successful.
Files=2, Tests=31,  0 wallclock secs ( 0.00 usr  0.01 sys +  0.27 cusr  0.02 csys =  0.30 CPU)
Result: PASS

followed by lots of lines starting with first cp and then manify    .

the next command listed is:

make test

which resulted in:

Test Summary Report
-------------------
t/01-load.t             (Wstat: 256 Tests: 62 Failed: 1)
  Failed test:  59
  Non-zero exit status: 1
t/04-template-handling.t (Wstat: 512 Tests: 28 Failed: 0)
  Non-zero exit status: 2
t/64-x12.t              (Wstat: 512 Tests: 0 Failed: 0)
  Non-zero exit status: 2
  Parse errors: Bad plan.  You planned 5 tests but ran 0.
Files=15, Tests=1691,  8 wallclock secs ( 0.16 usr  0.03 sys +  6.77 cusr  0.60 csys =  7.56 CPU)
Result: FAIL
Failed 3/15 test programs. 1/1691 subtests failed.
make: *** [test_dynamic] Error 255

which tells me something went wrong.

As I really don't know perl (or LedgerSMB for that matter) is there someone who can explain to me what I need to do to get this installation back on the rails (it was going somewhat smoothly previous to this.

Thanking all those who are willing to help get me back on track for installation.

When I am done and have a working installation I want to modify the page of instructions that I am using to reflect what id different from Ubuntu to Debian. (My $0.02 for the community.  grin!!)
